Root Canal Treatment

During a root canal, Dr. Harris will remove decay and bacteria in and around your tooth and fill it will material to help restore your tooth's original strength, look, and function.

Fractures or trauma, in addition to decay and infection, can sometimes cause the need for a root canal.  Some of these problems, however, are hard to notice ourselves.  Here is a list of signs to look for which may indicate a diseased or decaying tooth:

  • an abscess on your gums
  • pain while chewing
  • severe toothache
  • hot/cold sensitivity
  • swelling or tenderness around your tooth

If you have any of the symptoms above, or have questions about root canals, please give us a call today.

Frequently Asked Questions

A tooth decays through a process of bacteria and food wearing down your teeth.  That bacteria and food eventually release acids that attack your teeth after eating.  Because these acids can wear down enamel, they will also cause tooth decay.

If not treated, tooth decay can cause infection and tooth loss, but you can prevent this by brushing and flossing daily and regularly visiting Dr. Harris for check-ups.  Avoiding sugar can also help prevent tooth decay.

Unfortunately, tooth decay doesn't usually cause symptoms and can only be diagnosed by your dentist.  If tooth decay is left unnoticed and causes infection, you may notice a toothache.

If you have any questions about tooth decay or would like to set up an appointment, please contact us today.
